When you first experience Scissorman, you'll be absolutely frightened by this horror game. There's even some seriously cheezy cut scenes along the way to heighten the feeling of being chased.

Clock Tower differs from other SNES adventure games in that it places a strong emphasis on evasion and survival. The emphasis in this game is on tension and psychological horror rather than standard action-packed games. To escape Scissorman's grasp, players must navigate the mansion's unsettling chambers, work puzzles, and make quick decisions. There we were getting lost in the massive top down perspective of Jurassic Park. With no in game map, you'll have no idea where to go which will lead to some serious Google searches along the way.

There are extremely suspenseful moments throughout the interactions with the dinosaurs since any mistake could have disastrous repercussions. While some players can find this challenging, the sense of accomplishment that comes from overcoming these challenges is very fulfilling.

We didn't like the whole first person perspective, even though it must have been cool at the time to bring you a Wolfenstein 3D perspective point of view from time to time.

The level of detail in the character animations and background art speaks to the game's high level of visual appeal.

You owe it to yourself to give The Legen of the Mystical Ninja a go. It's simply fantastic from beginning to end.

3. J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings - Volume I

The Lord of the Rings nails it in the beginning. It follows the storyline extremely well and does not fall behind in the gameplay department while you're exploring caves as you normally would expect.

The Lord of the Rings: Volume I's gameplay includes aspects of exploration, adventure, and tactical battle. Gamers must negotiate perilous terrain, work out puzzles, and engage in combat with malevolent forces. We thought the gameplay was extremely dark. We had no idea where to begin to go. You'll be roaming around aimlessly thinking you've been there before as it's so similar.

The sword strike is also extremely slow. It's almost like you'll have to time your swings perfectly in order to take out a simple enemy.

You wouldn't need a list of the best SNES adventure games to make sure that Super Metroid made the cut here. Nintendo absolutely hit it out of the park with this one. Everything is so great, the moody atmosphere, the epic soundtrack and the massive open world environment.

They drop you into a planet with no explanation and just expect you to figure it out, make it to a certain point where you'll need an item to progress, find that item and then rinse and repeat.

There's also the little things that help you along the way. Super Metroid rewards you to complete things and being extremely thorough. There's an advantage of looking through every noook and cranny to find each of the powerups along the way.

Super Metroid's gameplay mechanics are superb in every way. Samus has fluid and accurate control, enabling precise platforming and exciting battles. Your array of weapons and skills gives you a pleasing variety of options for dealing with foes and bosses, and each fight requires quick thinking and reflexes.

Super Metroid is a serious contender for the best SNES adventure game by a long shot.

For most gamers, it's a hard pass as to which Zelda game is the best. We believe it's the third in the franchise in a Link to the Past by far.

If you wanted to put Super Metroid ahead of LTTP, you'd be totally right to do so. We just thought it had that slight edge as it's one of our favorite games of all time.

It's aged extremely well, the controls are great, the soundtrack is amazing and the art style has held up extremely well.
